The opinion of the wine taster

This wine made his mark with originality and distinctive style, based on the deep maturity of grapes and on the freshness and elegance of the taste. His ageing in oak barrels offers chocolate and toasted notes on the palate. It’s one of the best Chilean Carmenere according to Parker.

The terroir

This carmenere comes from a valley with strong but under-exploited potential, the Aconcagua Valley. It is situated in the sub-region of Panquehue, between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The vineyards grow on stony slopes at an average altitude of 1500 meters.

lecepage The grape variety

85% carmenere, 15% cabernet sauvignon. The grape variety carmenere was originally from Bordeaux, but it disappeared with the philloxera invasion (insects which fed of vine roots). Before, some plants where exported to Chili, this explains the massive presence of this grape variety in Chilean wines. The carmenere wines are fleshy, supple and rich.

lemillesime The vintage

The Mediterranean-type climate that we found in this area is favourable to the sugar accumulation in grapes. A small earthquake hit Chile in 2010 and it ended up with a reduction in production but with no impacts on quality.

lerecoltant The winemaker

Mauro von Siebenthal lived two lifes. Before he lived in Switzerland where he was a lawyer. In 1998, with the financial support of four friends Mauro moved to Chile to fully satisfy his passion for vineyards!
