The opinion of the sommelier

« Pessac-Léognan is one of my favourites denomina- tion. This little château is every bit as good as big wi- neries for the quality of its wine. Its vintage 2009 stands out for its nice balance, boldness and lightness. And it will improve even more with ageing. Will you reco- gnize the delicate aromas of redcurrant that I have iden- tified? »

The Mancèdre winery extends for 11 hectares on the east side of Pessac-Léognan. The vineyard flourishes on a soil made of gravels coming from the Pyrenees. Gravels give strength and lightness to wine. Grapevines also benefit from an excellent hydric regulation and natural poverty of soil, elements necessary to obtain ripened and concentred grapes.

lecepage Grape Variety

The blend is typical of this denomination: merlot gives roundness and a velvet touch to wine, whereas cabernet sauvignon gives strengths and the tannic structure necessary to the ageing potential.

lemillesime Vintage

A very good year! Temperatures were slightly over averages and a long period of drought facilitated the concentration of juice. Fresh nights from July to September helped preserving freshness and aromas of grapes. The result is a very well balanced wine.

lerecoltant Winemaker

The Roy-Trocard family purchased its first vineyards in the Libournais in 1628. We can say that they know about wine and...they love it! Jean and Bénédicte Trocard, managers of this winery, said: “The product that we produce, the wine, is the result of soil, sky and men’s passion”.
