The opinion of the sommelierMontpeyroux is a rising appellation in Languedoc ! I really like the minerality and the generosity of its wines. The nose of Mas d'Anglade is extremely seductive thanks to its aromas of blackberry, cherry and spices. The cuvee reveals on the palate a salinity carried by great tannins which are express on a persistent and suave finish.
TerroirThe vines of Mas d'Anglade are grown on a rich soil mainly composed of clay and limestone. It is a balanced soil that combines the freshness of clay with the filtering properties of limestone. This terroir acts as a natural regulator for the vine and thus it benefits from a good water supply.
Grape varietyOut of the three grape varieties that make up this wine, carignan is certainly the least known. However, it often completes the blend of great southern wines, especially when it’s from old vines. Carignan wines are appreciated for their power, their generosity and the elegance of their tannic structure.
VintageThe 2015 vintage is a success in Languedoc, but it was not easy. The months of June and July were extremely hot and dry, even scorching, at the limit of roasting the grapes. Fortunately, August was subject to floods and almost autumnal temperatures ! In the end, the balance was restored and the quality and quantity of the berries were very good.
