The opinion of the sommelierThis wine is a pure gem. It’s a tribute to the noble terroir of Saint-Chinian. Located in the South of France, Domaine Haut-Loubier’s vines are located on slopes which give fresh wines with complex aromas. In the mouth you can experience hint of ripe fruits, spices and pepper with firm tannins for our pleasure.
TerroirThe terroir of Saint-Chinian is divided in two parts. In one of them the soil is composed of schists which produce fruity wines with a low level of acidity. Domaine Haut-Loubier is located on the second kind of soil made of clay and limestone. This type of soil offers freshness to the wines and the limestone gives firm tannins that allows the wine to age longer.
Grape varietyThis wine gathers three different grapes which develop the whole structure and complexity of this cuvee. As it usually does, Grenache gives aromas of red fruits and firm tannins. Syrah provide smoky notes of spices and hints of ripe fruits. The last grape, Mourvèdre, is known for its peppery flavours.
VintageThe weather was unfavourable during the spring 2017. Frost and hail struck in the Languedoc region and destroyed around 60% of the harvest. The summer was more favourable for the vineyards and let the vines fulfil their development and provide high quality grapes for ones that survived spring.
