The opinion of the sommelier

« I really liked the personality of the Château l’Escart’s wines, located on the way to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle. You can notice it thanks to the numerous shells on the domain. The members of the Laurent’s family are biodynamic practitioners since 2005. The vintage 2010 of the cuvee Eden is one of the most “nature”. The mix of the aromas makes this wine unique and surprising. »

Located on the Bordeaux’s doors, the Château L’Escart’s vineyard is spread on 37 hectares of clay-limestone soils fine gravel. The presence of limestone gives freshness and length to the wine, while the clay brings out strength and density.

lecepage Grape Variety

The merlot and cabernet grape varieties are traditionally associated to Bordeaux. The first one is appreciated for its suppleness while the second one is well-known for its tannic structure. The malbec, also called “côt”, brings out color and softness to the wine.

lemillesime Vintage

Vintage 2009 was a real success, and 2010 is also a very good vintage, with tannins less soft than in 2009, but closer to a classic vintage. Damien Laurent stands out that the cuvee Eden 2010 “should be one of their best production”.

lerecoltant Winemaker

Lorena and Damien Laurent took the succession of this family-owned company in 2005. The management of this domain is a nice challenge for them because, before being winemakers, Lorena was interior designer and Damien was a professional hockey player, playing in the Chamonix hockey club during 7 years.
